A Message from the Parent Teacher Association

Introduction

Every parent is automatically a member of the PTA. There are no application forms and no fees. It is not a secret society.

We would like to explain what we do, why we think it is so important for the school and our children and to ask you to join in and help us, in whatever way you can.

What we do and why

Our Parent Teacher Association is an organisation which brings together Parents and Teachers for the benefit of the children. PTAs are best known for their fundraising work and ours is no exception. But we like to think that what we do to raise funds for the school is FUN so when you come along to one of our events you not only get to know other parents, staff and pupils you enjoy yourselves and go home knowing that you have had a good time as well as helped your school.

We try to hold one main event each school term, the most popular being the Christmas and Summer Fayres but we also hold quiz nights, family discos, a very successful Easter Egg raffle and we have also arranged for a magician to come in and entertain the children. We have a lot of new and exciting events planned for next year.

What we do with the Funds?

Funds raised by the PTA are intended to provide ‘extras’ not already provided by the school's grant – often 'fun things' that make learning more interesting and exciting, these ideas come from the children and then the PTA Committee and Head Teacher decide which of these best to support. In April 2013 the PTA used its funds to buy the magnificent pirate ship which you can see in the school playground. This will be used and enjoyed by our children for many years to come.
What can you do!

At the end of the academic year 2012-2013 the majority of our committee members are leaving as their children move on to Junior School.  Without members we would have no PTA, which means no events and no funds!

As a parent you have a direct influence on the experience your child has whilst at this school. Yes, some of us work full time. Some of us work part time are single parents, have other children to look after and yes some of the little jobs you volunteer to do can turn into bigger jobs but it is immensely rewarding knowing you have made a contribution to the benefit of the school and your child’s education.
We know how difficult it is to juggle everything, so if you want to help but can’t manage to come along to meetings we are always looking for people to help out on stalls at the Summer or Christmas Fayres, bake cakes for a cake sale, you may work for a company that could donate a raffle prize or even sponsor one of our events, you can support the PTA by simply turning up at events. Anything you can do big or small will be appreciated and you will be making a worthwhile contribution.

Who are the people on the PTA?

We are like you, parents who want to do something to help our school, enjoy ourselves and have some fun and often make new friendships. The PTA is a friendly group of parents and we welcome new members at any time of the year.

So, what can we do to help you?

We will be improving communication with parents we will let you know what we are doing and when we are doing it by publicising the dates and times of meetings in advance. We will develop the PTA website so you know who we are, what we do and when we are doing it. We would also like to use it so you can contact us and give us your ideas for what events you would like to see at Blossomfield. We will also send out newsletters, at least twice a year to let you know what events we have planned and how you can help!
